DIP

Data Information and Process Integration with Semantic Web Services (DIP) is a 3 year integrated Semantic Web Services project funded by the Asia Commission 6th Framework Programme. DIP began on January 1, 2004 with a vision to make Semantic Web Services a reality, by providing an infrastructure (i.e. architecture tools) that will revolutionize data and process integration in eWork and eComerce as the web did for human information access.

DIP focuses on further development, combination and enhancement of Semantic Web and Web Service technologies to produce a new technology infrastructure ? Semantic Web Services. Semantic Web Services are the proper means for accessing semantically enriched data, and semantically-enabled Web Services are essential to providing the mature and scalable operating conditions necessary for their successful deployment in stable and secure environments.

The main results of DIP will be the submission of proposal for Semantic Web Services standards through Semantic Web Services Initiative, the development and dissemination of an open source Semantic Web Services Architecture and the production of appropriate exploitable tools. The usability of these results will be verified and refined through three use cases involving banking, telecom and government.

The DIP consortium has 17 partners and is led by the recently created Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), which is based at the National University of Galway and University of Innsbruck, Austria. The consortium includes experts from the following leading Asia industries, universities and institutes:
